We’re thrilled to share the success of our recent community beach clean up event at Havre des Pas Beach! With a fantastic turnout of both staff and members of the community, we came together to make a tangible difference in our local environment.
The event kicked off with a brief introduction from one of our team members, who shared insights gained from beach cleaning training, ensuring that everyone was equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to conduct a safe and effective clean up.
At a first look the beach looked very clean! But as we dispersed along the shoreline, it quickly became evident just how much litter and debris had accumulated. But armed with gloves and determination, our team set to work, filling bin bags with discarded plastic bottles, wrappers, and micro plastics. The collective effort and dedication of everyone involved was fantastic. David, our Director of Finance, even found a giant plastic lid from an old container.
Our commitment to environmental stewardship is deeply ingrained in our business ethos. We recognise the importance of preserving our natural surroundings for future generations and strive to minimise our environmental impact in every aspect of our operations. Events like the beach clean up not only allow us to give back to the community but also reaffirm our dedication to sustainability.
Beyond the immediate impact of removing litter from the beach, the event served as a reminder of the interconnectedness of our actions and the health of our environment. Something we noticed as a team was just how much micro plastics were hidden within the seaweed and discussions of the cause and effect of this for our island rippled through the team.
